The call for entries for the January 2016 issue (#11) is due Nov. 30th! So get those submissions rolling! As always, there is no theme. We like a wide variety of subject matter and processes. We are looking for a lot of different hand- printed photographic processes, all types of printmaking, collage, mixed media incorporating print and photo- and now we are looking to include video and film work as well!

We are very proud and excited to announce that the current call for entries will also include an opportunity to exhibit at The Small Engine Gallery in Albuquerque, NM! It is important to us that we provide opportunities to see the amazing art we publish in person. And we also want to try to provide artists opportunities to sell work or at least get it in front of new pairs of eyes. Hopefully we can do this at least once a year. See the prospectus and more details for submissions on our Submissions page.

The Small Engine Gallery, Albuquerque, NM, USA

“The Small Engine Gallery is a collaborative effort between artists Bradford Erickson and Jackie Riccio to bring light to the experimental, DIY art scene in Albuquerque, New Mexico by showing local, national, and international artists. We house works that put into question traditional roles within contemporary art in order to usher in the millennial era of new age fine craft and artistry through interdisciplinary means.” (from, thesmallenginegallery.com)

We feel that this collaboration is a perfect match, with both The Hand and The Small Engine being dedicated to experimental , hand-made artworks, and bringing artists from different communities together. So show us what you’ve been experimenting with and help us make this another amazing issue and exhibition! See you in Albuquerque!

Thanks,
